Some things do not clean. Dye that migrated years ago has been part of the fiber ever since. A pale stripe where the afternoon sun crossed the rug is missing color, and we do not put color back. Our den off Main Street is small. Does everything have to come out of the room first?
No. We work around what is there. Side tables and floor lamps shift a couple of feet and go back, and the heavy pieces stay. On a rug that runs beneath a sofa, we clean the open field and the strip under the front legs; the part pinned under the full weight of the frame is not collecting soil anyway.
We just closed on a house in Eagle Springs. How soon should the rugs get done, and how often after that?

Almost always, if it is soil and not a dye. Mud is a particle problem, and particles are what this method was built around. The exception is when whatever came in on the fur carried pigment, like iron-heavy clay or colored mulch. We test a spot before making a promise.
