Rug & Upholstery Cleaning in Richmond, TX
Richmond has been the Fort Bend county seat since the 1830s, and the housing runs from pier-and-beam blocks near the courthouse to subdivisions finished last year. Both ends get the same in-home service.
Two Richmonds share a name. There is the old one on the bluff above the Brazos, with houses on raised foundations, original wood floors, and rugs that have been in the same rooms for generations. Then there is the newer arc along the Grand Parkway: Aliana, Harvest Green, Veranda, Candela, Lakes of Bella Terra, all built since 2010. The dirt is the same in both. The furniture is not.
Brazos bottom clay is the shared problem. It is heavy, it holds water, and when it dries in a pile it turns to a fine gray powder that binds to fiber. Vacuuming lifts the top of it. The rest sits packed at the base of the wool where it does damage every time somebody walks over it.
Getting it out takes a method that reaches the bottom of the pile without flooding the rug. Carbonation floats the soil up where it can be reached, extraction lifts it off together with the little water applied, and about an hour later the room is back in service.
Old Richmond porches, river clay, and what walks in
Houses close to the courthouse square sit on pier and beam with wood steps and a porch, and that path collects everything the yard has. Brazos clay tracks in on shoes and dries into the entry rug. On a hand-knotted wool piece that grit is the enemy, because it cuts fibers under foot traffic. The cleaning has to reach the foundation of the knots. We will also tell you when a worn area near a doorway is not soil at all but nap that has gone down to the weave, which does not come back.
Aliana and Harvest Green: new house, old rug
A pattern we see constantly out here is a house finished in 2016 holding a rug woven decades earlier in Tabriz, Kashan, Agra or Lahore, brought over by a family and put in the formal room. Those pieces get fiber identification and a colorfastness check before anything else happens. Older reds and blues can move, and the point of testing a hidden edge is to find that out on an inch of border. If the dye is unstable, the technique changes, and if it is unstable enough to be a real risk, you get told plainly.
Veranda and Candela sectionals, done in the room
The great rooms in the new sections are two stories tall and the furniture matches. A sectional that size does not get carried anywhere, so cushions come off individually and are cleaned on the piece, then the deck, the arms and the back. Everything is sittable again in one to two hours. Leather is cleaned and conditioned in place. Foam replacement, re-upholstery and leather re-pigmentation are not services here, and we point you elsewhere when that is what a piece actually needs.
Royal Lakes and Old Orchard back yards, and what enzymes do
Big lots mean dogs with the run of the yard, and a door mat only catches so much. Where an animal has had an accident, the odor lives in dried residue below the surface, and a scented spray sits above it doing nothing for long. An enzyme treatment goes on first and digests that residue, so once the cleaning is finished there is nothing left making the smell.
Wondering if that couch is worth cleaning or due for replacement? There are three checks you can run yourself in a couple of minutes, and they will tell you which side of the line it sits on before anyone quotes you.

Rug and upholstery questions from Richmond homeowners
We are in the historic part of town with original floors. Will the rug leave a wet mark on the wood?
No. The amount of moisture used is small and most of it comes straight back out with the extraction pass. The rug is damp for about an hour and the floor beneath it is not soaked. That is a real concern with old wood, and it is one of the reasons this method exists.
Do you collect the rug and bring it back later? I do not want it on a truck.
Neither one happens. The work runs on the floor of your house from start to finish. Nothing is rolled up, nothing is hauled off, and no piece is ever put in a bath.
There is a mark from a broken bottle of red wine, about eight years old.
Old and set is the hardest category. Some of it will lift and the mark will get lighter. If it stripped or shifted the dye underneath, what is left is a color change, and no cleaning puts color back. The tech looks at it during the walkthrough and gives you a straight read before you spend anything.
