Rug & Upholstery Cleaning in Cibolo, TX

A lot of Cibolo rugs were bought online, shipped in a box, and unrolled in a great room with no idea what fiber was inside. Safe-Dry finds out first, then cleans in place.

Cibolo filled up fast with new construction, and new houses get furnished on a schedule. The big rug in the 78108 great room usually arrived by freight, came out of a plastic sleeve, and was never accompanied by anything explaining what it was made of. That matters, because a viscose blend, a jute flatweave, and a wool hand-loom all react to water in ways that have nothing in common.

Every visit starts with the tech identifying the fiber and running a colorfastness check on a spot nobody sees. Only then does anything get applied. The cleaning runs on carbonation, no detergent at all, and about as little moisture as the job allows, so a jute rug never gets soaked into a brown-edged mess and a viscose piece is not left with the fuzzed texture that water damage causes. Nothing gets rolled up and driven away.

The boxed rug that showed up in a 78108 great room

Retailers describe rugs by look, not by fiber. Art silk, faux silk, and bamboo silk are all viscose, and viscose loses strength the moment it gets wet and yellows if it stays that way. Half the rugs ruined at home are ruined by somebody attacking a spot with a wet towel. The identification step exists to stop that. If a rug is viscose, the tech says so, cleans it with the least moisture the job allows, and tells you how to handle spills on it afterward.

Cibolo Creek mud and a dog door

Yards backing onto the creek drainage produce a specific mud: dark, fine, and slow to dry. A dog with a dog door brings it in on four feet several times a day through the wet months. It gets ground into the entry rug and transferred onto the sofa arm the dog leans against. Once it is dry it looks like nothing more than dulling. Extraction from the base of the weave is what actually removes it, and there is no soap in the process to leave a sticky patch that grabs the next round.

Cushions handled one at a time along FM 1103

Upholstery in these houses tends to be four or five years old, still structurally fine, and simply loaded. Each cushion is cleaned separately and set back in place, arms and backs are done on the frame, and nothing is unzipped or sent out. A hidden-area test comes first on anything delicate. When the tech leaves, the piece needs one to two hours before anybody sits down, not a day and not a week.

Odor that comes back on the first warm afternoon

Pet odor that reappears when the house warms up is a chemistry problem, not a scent problem. Salts left behind from an accident pull moisture out of the air, and moisture reactivates the smell. Covering it with a perfume buys a few days. An enzyme treatment breaks the residue apart so there is nothing left to reactivate, which is why it holds through August instead of through the weekend.

Cibolo houses are new enough that most of the furniture in them is worth protecting, and old enough now that the soil has had time to settle in. Twelve to eighteen months between cleanings keeps that from becoming permanent wear. Ring 726-245-5770 or grab a time online, and the first cleaning comes in $25 lower.

Rug and upholstery questions from Cibolo homeowners

How can you tell what my rug is made of if the label is gone?

By hand, by burn characteristics on a single fiber taken from the fringe area or the back, and by construction. Wool, cotton, jute, viscose, and synthetics all look and feel different once you know what to check. It takes a couple of minutes and it decides the entire approach.

I already tried a rented machine on this rug and it looks worse. Can it be saved?

Often, yes. Rented machines leave detergent behind, and that residue is sticky, so the rug re-soils faster than it did originally. The soap-free method here lifts that residue back out. If the machine caused actual dye bleed, that part is permanent and the tech will point it out at the start.

Do I need to be home the whole time?

For the walkthrough at the beginning, yes, since that is where the price is set and where anything permanent gets flagged. After that you are free to go about your day. Rugs are usable again about an hour after the work is done.
